'We will be at work in Ottawa,' Opposition VowsOpposition MPs say they will spend a major portion of the parliamentary prorogation period in Ottawa, with or without the governing Conservatives. Ralph Goodale, the Liberal House Leader, said in a telephone interview from Regina on Wednesday that Liberal politicians will be found in their Ottawa offices through much of February. Libby Davies, the House Leader for the New Democrats, said the members of her caucus art outraged by the prorogation, “how arrogant it is, and how [Mr. Harper is] trying to get off the hook in terms of what’s happening with the detainee issue and the war in Afghanistan.”

Prorogation of parliament

Libby, I've received many of you letters here in Vancouver(as I live in your riding), here is a short one from me.

Please return to the Hill with the other opposition members and get some work done. Your spokesperson this morning pissed me off when he said going back is a photo opportunity and nothing else. Do you agree with him, is getting back to work a photo opp?

From what I've come to know about you, I imagine you're also upset with this dismissing remark.

As one of the over 120,000 people on facebook against Harper's shutting down of democracy, I expect you to be with us as well.

Forget Facebook, email, mail and fax Harper!

I can see your outrage, "anonymous pissed off." To me going back is a symbolic act or a gesture. Going back is a way of saying "We would work, and will show our commitment to the charge given us, now it is up to you to demand from the PMO that parliament be reconvened. Our writing here seems like a wasted effort that should be redirected to addressing the real issue, Harper ducking out from his work when it was getting tough. Whatever will be happening during the prorogation, its a dim shadow of the hard work of governing. Its like criticizing somebody for jaywalking as they go to help the victim of a hit and run. I think its important to keep the focus where it belongs. Here is Harper's email address and mail address:
