Dear Prime Minister Harper,

I am writing you with my concerns about the detainment of Canadian journalist Dorothy Parvaz, who has been held by Syrian government since her arrival in the country on April 28, 2011. Ms. Parvaz was travelling to Syria as a part of her work with the television channel Al-Jazeera, and is being held without reason by the Syrian government. I am concerned about her welfare and safety at this time and I’ve heard from many constituents who share this same concern.

I believe that the Canadian government has a responsibility to protect its citizens working abroad, and I am concerned about your government’s lack of action on this matter. I urge you to use all necessary diplomatic resources to investigate her detainment and pressure the Syrian government to release her immediately; to see her returned safely to her family in Canada.

I look forward to your response on this matter.

Syria - Help Stop the Bloodshed in Syria

Dear Libby,
Please join us on May 7 Freedom for Syria Rally, Dorothy Parvaz went to Syria to bring the facts about the current Bloodshed targeting peaceful protesters by Brutal Syrian regime Syria...we are very concerned about her Safety and about the inhuman besieged towns withouut food, water and basic supply, and almost 600 were killed in Syria by security forces since Mar 18, this is how Syrians pay price for freedom!

Mr. Harper was quick to rush CF-18 war planes to Libya, but failed to take any actions for on Syria.

Our Top Demands:

1- Stop bloodshed and massacre against the Syrian people by Syrian Army and Security Forces
2- Withdraw Security Apparatus, Army and Tyrant gangs with direct ties to the ruling family from Syrian Towns and Villages
3- Release all Detainees and Political Prisoners and establish "Freedom of Expression" for all Syrians
4- End dictatorship and end 50+ years monopoly of ba'ath ruling party and replace by a democratically elected civil state that represents all Syrians

Thank You Libby!

Dorothy is a dear friend of mine from UBC, we've known eachother almost 20 years.
